Embedded Digital Dash Board

 Objective :- :-

The objective of this project is to monitor the vehicle parameters such as speed, traveled distance, fuel level, engine temperature and mileage.

Scope

Normal existing meter are Analog meter. The one draw back in this meter are we cannot know that exact fuel quantity in the tank but in this project the exact quantity is displayed in the digital form and also speed of the vehicle and how much distance the vehicle has been traveled like these information also displayed. We can also monitor the engine temperature.

Brief Methodology

          This project is designed with

    • Float sensor
    • Microcontroller
    • LCD display,
    • ADC
    • Proximity sensor
    • Amplifier unit
    • Temperature sensor
    • Driver circuit with alarm

In this project proximity sensor is fixed in the wheel. When the wheel is rotating the proximity sensor gives the pulse to the micro controller. Inside the counter will count that pulse from this we can easily calculate the revolution per minute (RPM). If you multiply into hour we can calculate the revolution per hour by which we can measure speed of the vehicle.

If we know the Diameter of the vehicle we can measure the Distance that the vehicle has been traveled. The fuel storage in the tank is monitoring by float which is fixed in the tank and connected to microcontroller through amplifier and ADC.

Float sensor is nothing but transducer which generates the voltage signal depending on the fuel level in the tank. These signals are in the range of milli volts. So the transducer output is given to amplifier circuit to amplify the signals.  The amplifier circuit consists of operational amplifier.  The amplified signals are given to ADC.

Similarly the temperature sensor is used to monitor the engine temperature. The temperature sensor output is given to microcontroller through amplifier and ADC.

ADC is nothing but analog to digital converter.  It converts the incoming analog signals into corresponding digital signals. The converted digital signal is given to micro controller.  The microcontroller is the flash type reprogrammable microcontroller in which we have already programmed with our objective.  The Microcontroller received those digital output signals from ADC and compared with stored value. So now we knew distance and fuel used by the vehicle from which we can measure the mileage of the vehicle and projected mileage for remaining fuel in the tank.

The corresponding all measured values are displayed in the LCD display such as speed, traveled distance, fuel quantity and engine temperature and mileage. If speed or engine temperature is above normal value as well as the fuel quantity in tank is low level, the microcontroller activates the alarm driver circuit.

Advantage
1.  This project used to monitor the fuel quantity, speed, distance and engine temperature.
2.  All measured values are displayed as the digital value in the LCD display. So we can easily viewed.
